Saskatchewan brake operation places 103 vehicles out of service in 294 inspections

The Government of Saskatchewan said on September 11 that 294 inspections during Operation Air Brake led to 103 commercial vehicles being placed out of service, 62 of them with brake component or brake adjustment defects. The province counts inspections, and its release does not say how many separate vehicles were checked.
The operation ran for 72 hours, from August 25 to 27, 2026, at the Beverly Weigh Scale near Swift Current. The province said 39 Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers took part. The RCMP, SGI and revenue investigators from the Ministry of Finance assisted. It described the operation as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual Brake Safety Week.
The province said an out-of-service designation means a vehicle cannot operate again until repairs are done. The release gives no fine amounts.
